We are excited to announce that Volkswagen Chattanooga is now hiring production team members directly to VW for the first time since 2011.
This is the first time we have accepted applications for direct hire since 2009.
We are moving fast to prepare the facility for the production of Electric Vehicles and to meet our production demands.
These positions will be open in many areas of the plant, including Body Shop, Assembly Shop, Paint Shop, Quality Assurance and Logistics.
Production team members will assemble automotive parts and operate tools and equipment in a fast-paced, high-tech production environment to build high quality VW vehicles.
- Production Team Members are responsible for assembly, body welding/repair, paint finesse/quality, tool changes, and problem solving of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Candidate could work in either Body, Assembly, Paint, Quality or Logistics.
- Candidates must be willing to work any shift, but hiring will be primarily focused on 2nd and 3rd shift.
- Overtime hours are common for full-time employees and may be available with little notice.
Some weekend shifts are possible. - Understand, support, and execute all work in a safe manner and contribute to a culture that promotes safety as its overriding priority.
- Perform bench, floor, or conveyor assembly work, usually of short cycle duration, and involving standardized work elements.
Must be able to comprehend and follow standardized work instructions.
Work may involve using hand positioning, assist devices such as hoists, and power tools or other equipment.
- At least three combined years of similar manufacturing or automotive mechanic/repair experience including assembly, welding, heavy equipment and machine operation (or similar)
- At least 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be eligible to work in the United States (no sponsorship)
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete Volkswagen hiring process requirements which include medical/physical screening, work assessments, hair drug test, and a background check.
- Must be willing to work flexible shift hours and day, afternoon, or night shift as well as overtime hours on those shifts with little notice
- The employee needs to be capable of working on their feet for long periods of time, demonstrating hand dexterity, tolerating repetitious work patterns and performing some moderate heavy lifting.
- Starting hourly rate is $18.
