Core Clerk

Position Overview:
The Core Clerk is responsible for a vast array of jobs related to core identification, check-in, and delivery of core to customers. This position is responsible for the processing of incoming cores. Work involves attention to detail, ability to work effectively with customers and other branches and work with limited supervision.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Processes incoming cores from customers and other Valley Power Systems, Inc. branches.

  • Sorts and ship cores back to vendors for credit.

  • Process core credits to customeraccounts.

  • Identifies and inspects cores against a set standard of acceptance.

  • Issues credits for acceptable cores.

  • Matches available cores against Factory "cores due list".

  • Processes core returns to the Factory utilizing web based applications.

  • Prepares shipping documents.

  • Packages cores for shipment and loads them onto trucks.

  • Receive cores from the branches, note back charges, label, and put away.

  • Receive and process special account cores and stock to shelves & crates.

  • Accurate identification of cores coming into the branch.

  • Uses forklift.

  • Assist in the physical inventory of cores.

  • Accurately process branch core credit memos.

  • Assist in the communication with branches regarding issues related to branch credit memos.

  • Maintains files.

  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Familiar with inspecting and identifying heavy truck and diesel engine components.

  • Ability to read and understand procedures and documents applicable to the position.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.

  • Ability to use basic math.

  • Computer knowledge and ability to navigate in the company computer system.

  • Excellent computer and data entry skills.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Good organization skills.

  • Knowledge of product and material handling.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or 2 year equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Work Environment:
This position works in a warehouse setting, with some outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filling cabinets and fax machines, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, box cutters and tape dispensers.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and climb stairs. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, pushing and pulling of parts and part containers is required. The employee must be able lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. The performance of this position requires exposure to a typical manufacturing area that requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and proper foot wear. The noise level is moderate.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
