SALARY RANGE Water Systems Operator I:
$5,375 - $6,533 monthly Water Systems Operator II:
$5,937 - $7,216 monthly Water Systems Operator III:
$6,623 - $8,051 monthly JOB DESCRIPTION Under general supervision, employees will have knowledge and experience in water production and water treatment techniques such as, Ion Exchange, and Lime Softening.
Employees perform a variety of skilled technical duties and labor in the operation of water treatment facilities.
Candidates should also have a good understanding of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), wells, booster stations, pressure-reducing stations, system blending, and the ability to perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Additional duties may include:
Perform assigned water production and treatment facility rounds inspecting, monitoring, and documenting plant operations by reading plant equipment gauges, dials, graphs, and other instrumentation.
Operate, monitor, and maintain water production and treatment facilities and processes such as ion exchange, and disinfection systems.
Operate and adjust treatment plant pumps, motors, feeders, and other equipment to maintain appropriate plant operations.
Maintain, compile, and update plant operations logs and reports; perform and record mathematical calculations related to plant operational activities.
Mix and add treatment chemicals; check and have work verified that adequate chemical application is according to regulations and guidelines.
Collect water samples and perform a variety of routine water quality laboratory tests, work closely with the laboratory on testing processes.
Perform general plant facility maintenance including membrane replacement and reservoir cleaning; perform filter maintenance, media replacement, and chemical treatment; perform routine facility repairs as required.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATES The right person for this role will possess the following credentials:
Equivalent to graduation from high school.
Possession of a Class C California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
Possession of or ability to obtain certification from District provided CPR/First Aid Training.
Water Systems Operator I - Possession of a valid California State Water Resources Control Board Grade II Water Distribution Certificate.
Ability to obtain within one year of hire, a valid California State Water Resources Control Board Water Treatment Certificate.
Water Systems Operator II - Possession of a valid California State Water Resources Control Board Grade III Water Distribution Certificate.
Possession of, or ability to obtain within two years of hire, a valid California State Water Resources Control Board Grade III Water Treatment Certificate.
Water Systems Operator III - Possession of, or ability to obtain within one year of hire, a valid California State Water Resources Control Board Grade IV Water Distribution Certificate.
Possession of, or ability to obtain within one year of hire, a valid California State Water Resources Control Board Grade IV Water Treatment Certificate.
